FROM THE WINERY:

The Fruit

The 2016 vintage in the Barossa saw a cool winter and spring with lower than average rainfall followed by a warm summer. The mild February and March allowed for a smooth harvest and good flavour development. The 2016 vintage is regarded as a very good year for reds in the Barossa.

The Winemaking

The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed prior to being fermented in stainless steel tanks. After it underwent malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in a combination of American and French oak for a period of 14 months.

The Wine

Deep dark purple in colour, this wine instantly impresses with aromas of raspberry and blackberry, complemented by spice, subtle vanilla and coffee bean. It's a full-bodied wine; the red fruits in the mid-palate are balanced with integrated fine, long tannins and hints of sweetness and spice from the oak. The soft integrated tannin structure gives the wine elegance and mid-palate structure. The multi-layered flavours and long lingering finish make this an impressive wine.
